Zamberlan Cabernet Sauvignon Sangiovese
Wine
Primo Estate Zamberlan Cabernet Sauvignon Sangiovese is drawn from the winery's McMurtrie Road Vineyard. Located on the valley floor, it enjoys warm days cooled by McLaren Vale's maritime influences.
The wine is named after winemaker Joseph Grilli's father-in-law Rinaldo Zamberlan, who suggested using the Ripasso technique of his birthplace in northern Italy.
The Ripasso technique involves pumping the newly fermented Cabernet and Sangiovese over the dried grape skins from the winery's Joseph Moda Cabernet Merlot for additional fermentation.
The new wine is then pressed to barrel and aged for 12 months. The final blend is typically 80% Cabernet and 20% Sangiovese.
Deep ruby, Primo Estate Zamberlan Cabernet Sauvignon Sangiovese is intense and complex with rich, ripe dark berry flavours and spice. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
